Planning where to base yourself in Sardinia is tricky without any experience. Most people seem to make it a driving trip, moving every day or two. Others spend a week in the north and a week in the south. We picked our spot based on finding a house with a pool and the fact that it was in the central part of the east coast, thinking we could make day trips north, south, and west. But the bumper-to-bummer driving isn't easy on winding mountainous roads in the heat, even with two entertainers on either side of me in the back of the van. So instead we steered clear and enjoyed the beach two minutes away by foot and our pool on the way there and back. To infinity (pool) and beyond!
