A delicacy in Ghent are cuberdons, purple nose-shaped candy filled with raspberry jelly that has a shell like a thick jellybean on the outside and a very sweet, runny jelly on the inside. To eat it properly you must bite off the tip first. A pushcart war between two vendors across the square from each other has led to fisticuffs and the mayor had to confiscate the carts for a time and later create a law that states if either says anything bad about the other they'll be fined 1000 Euros.
