Stick a fairy tale church on a picturesque lake with baby swans swimming around and quaint boats to row you about while you gaze at an imposing castle on a rock cliff and then stand back while the tourist buses convoy...and you have the town of Bled.
The town could use a more fairy tale–like name! Bill and I just had a confusing conversation as I showed him your photo and said "Aw, look at the ugly ducklings!" and he said, "Those are swans, right?" And I said "Yes, but the ugly duckling was a swan," and he said "But those are swans." We finally figured out why we were confusing each other -- had to do with the term "duckling."
