Plitvice National Park
Not exactly easy to reach (see previous post) and yet too tempting a draw to miss, Plitvice National Park pulled us inland for a day. The lush park includes 16 terraced lakes connected by natural travertine dams and waterfalls. Boardwalks take you over and around cascades and past turquoise water so clear that the trout can't possibly hide from hungry herons. (It reminded me of Havasu in the Grand Canyon on a massive scale.) For the first time on our trip we found ourselves surrounded by international tourists and school kids. The kids seemed to know we were Americans (is it that obvious?) and loved saying Hello in English. Arlo started giving them high fives and they squealed with delight.

I recommend that Ann should join Arlo and travel the world while blogging about it. Then my flow of vicarious entertainment can continue uninterrupted.
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous. Loved the dragonfly, too.
