Gone to Hell

Hungry, a rare feeling for us so far on this trip, we wandered past the Crime & Punishment museum and down a dark alley to Hell. "Zur Holl" (To Hell) was the name of the restaurant! Seated in the 1,000 year old cellar, we ate at a table made from a huge bellows. Eating hot pumpkin soup with cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg (those same spices that also go in the mulled wine and lebkuchen) and German bread in the cellar of a medieval city topped off our day. It doesn't get much better. But then it did...when our waitress offered me kaiserschmarrn for dessert! This version came with stewed plums, ice cream and whipped cream. I was in heaven...and hell!

Thanks to Julie & Rose for the iPhone 8 Plus low-light photos!

  1. Thanks for all of the beautiful photos and descriptions of the exquisite sights, sweets and meals. Excuse me, must rush off, I'm just going to finish my bowl of broccoli.
