Nuremberg trials
While Nuremberg is known for the Nazi war crime trials, there are other trials in the city today. It's nearly impossible to try all the cookie varieties but I'm doing my best. Except for the single lebkuchen I procured, you can't just buy one cookie, you must purchase a paper cone or bag full. Vanessa recommended the little dice that have layers of marzipan, jelly, and lebkuchen. Julie challenged me to try the marshmallow softballs coated in chocolate & lebkuchen, and then we had to try the embossed anise springerle. But what I liked best of this bunch were the crispy and spicy speculatius (the thin brown ones hiding behind the embossed springerle in the last photo).

All these photos on all these posts bring back such dear memories for me—thanks so much for sharing! When I lived in Germany, the "marshmallow softballs coated in chocolate & lebkuchen" were called Negerküssen. And I LOVED them. Awesome treats, terrible, regrettable name (perhaps they no longer call them by that name?). —Usha
