We haven't seen the sun since our first hiking day and haven't been able to make full use of the outdoor patios and cold beer at these great huts (or seen the full views from many of these spectacular spots). On the flip side, we aren't hot and the overcast skies and light rain actually have made for pleasant hiking. This morning we awoke to a heavier rain that stalled us at the hut. We have become chummy with three moms and their kids and have all been at the same huts together. So when the rain turned to a light drizzle we all took off together and had a good walk down the mountain to complete our 4-day loop. We hiked down into a steep river canyon and across to visit an ancient cave where cave bears once lived. Apparently when they first found the bones they were thought to be those of giant humans. Lots of Brothers Grimm source material here!
We made it back to the car and are now sitting by the River Inn celebrating our successful loop. We will go back to our "barnhouse" tonight and then plan our next route. The weather report for the next few days shows heavy rain tomorrow and cooler temps. Arlo is suggesting we go to Italy but that may be because we are eating pizza.
