Bathe, bank, blog

Arlo summed up our whirlwind turnaround to our next area to his pal Marshall. He said, "We left the Rosegarden Dolomites for the Brenta Dolomites and managed to drive to the new area, find a nice pensione, do laundry, bathe, bank, blog, dine, plan and reserve more huts, and enjoy some small town Northern Italy, specifically Pinzole, and be back on the hiking trail in 24 hours. And all that without feeling rushed except while driving with the crazy Italians who treat their commute like a personal Monte Carlo, but for the fact that those in the oncoming lanes do the same which makes for some exciting driving."

I will add that when we were ready for dinner the only thing near our pensione was a hotel so we ducked in to get a slice of pizza or salad (and were excited to have a SMALL dinner). The barmaid ushered us from the casual bar to the formal dining room where we joined a large tour group of Germans having dinner. We were handed the fixed price menu (with no price) and were served a giant four-course dinner. We had no idea what the bill would be but shrugged and chalked it up to the joys of travel. We spent the dinner guessing what the bill might be. $50? $100? Our eyes were as wide and happy as our stomachs when we saw the bill... $28.
