Spectacular views, wildflowers, and beautiful clouds sifting through the peaks encouraged us on. Our destination for the night, Rifugio Vajolet (Violet Hut), involved climbing up and over another pass and a steep, rocky trail of sharp Dolomite limestone that poked at our feet through our boots and had us hurting by the time we arrived. Seven hours and two passes later, we were ready to have that beer.
Gorgeous! So you really need sturdy boots, huh? No tennis shoes.
ReplyDeleteWe brought our lightweight boots. Big (and painful) mistake.
