A tall Franciskaner beer and a private room in the hut made us feel better as did the four-course dinner of salad, soup or tagliatelle, beef or grilled cheese, and strudel or carrot cake. When I ordered the grilled cheese I assumed it was going to be a grilled cheese sandwich but in fact it was a sandwich-sized slab of cheese grilled. Heavenly! (For the record, as members of the Austrian Alpine Club, we paid 41 Euros each which included our room, dinner, and breakfast.)
You can tell that area gets scoured with snow on a regular basis. No dirt, just pulverized stone.
