After being on sheer rock for a few days, our stop at Rifugio Gardeccia in a high, verdant valley (with trees!) felt luxurious. We even found a cow with a bell. The first course of our four-course Italian hut dinner was onion soup with baked cheese floating like a cloud of yum.
That's more my speed. Grass, cows, level ground.
