Having enjoyed our hut-to hut hiking trip in the Alps six years ago we were aching to return. So we began, as before, in Munich where we were treated to such a warm welcome by Katrin, Chris, and Vanessa. Chris gave us a tour of Munich with a stop at the alpine club desk at the sporting goods store for information on routes. (I noticed the "no photos" sign while looking at my photos later! Oops.) Chris & Vanessa showed us their new apartment and made us homemade Kaiserschmarrn to begin our trip in a delicious way. Then Chris showed us how inventive landlocked Munich surfers can be by catching a wave in the river that runs through town.
